Québec Health 101 Guide
New to Quebec City and wondering how the healthcare system works? Our Québec Health 101 Guide was created to help newcomers navigate local medical services with confidence.
This resource was developed in partnership with Jeffery Hale Community Services, the Community Wellness Centre, and the Voice of English-speaking Québec (VEQ).

Health 101 Guide
Travel4Health
If you need to travel for medical care, the Travel4Health website is here to help. Developed by members of the Community Health and Social Services Network (CHSSN), it provides practical information and support for English-speaking patients who must travel outside their region for healthcare services.
Health Passport
The Health Passport helps English-speaking newcomers communicate better with healthcare providers in Quebec City. It gives you a simple way to explain your health needs and understand medical information, even if your French is limited.
It also helps doctors, nurses, and other health professionals understand the needs of English-speaking patients, so you get safer and better care.
You can get a free copy of the Health Passport by contacting VEQ.
Health Passport App
Keep your Health Passport right on your phone, tablet, or computer. Download it at https://veq.ca/hp
The app helps you and your family store important health information and includes French words and phrases to make it easier to communicate with healthcare providers.
The When Language Matters Health Passport App 1.0 is VEQ’s first step in using digital tools to make English-language services easier to access. We welcome your feedback to make future versions even better. Please rate the app and share your comments!
Partners in Health and Social Services
Through the shared initiative of the Wellness Centre, managed by the Jeffery Hale Community Partners (JH Partners), VEQ collaborates with JH Partners and Jeffery Hale – Saint Brigid’s, especially its Community Services team. This close partnership allows an exchange of services that promote the development of the region’s English-speaking community and the health and well-being of its members.
Through the Wellness Centre, you can take part in activities, workshops, and events for all ages, including Family Matters, Caregivers’ Circle, WE Mind Mental Health, Well 50+, Community Wellness, and the SNACS Program for people with special needs.
There are many ways to get involved as a volunteer, from Day Centre for seniors to friendly visits and calls, transportation to medical appointments, and the annual Community Christmas Hamper Campaign.
